Fitness Classes at the Mardyke Arena

Mardyke Arena UCC offers a wide range of fitness classes suitable for all levels. Whether your aim is to get fit, lose weight, tone up or increase flexibility, we have the class for you. Our highly experienced instructors will help you achieve your goal. Add some variety to your fitness regime and experience the benefits.

Class Fees (From September 1st 2008)

  • Mardyke Arena Member €4.00
  • Non-Member €8.00

Management reserve the right to cancel or alter classes, class times or instructors. 7 days notice of any changes will, where possible, be posted at reception in the Mardyke Arena.

Class Tips

  1. Stay hydrated - Aerobics training works up a great sweat, bring a water bottle and a small towel to class.
  2. Pace yourself - Classes vary in intensities and some can be highly energetic. Remember to go at your own pace.
  3. Inform your instructor of any illness or injury that may prevent you from participating fully in the class.
  4. Wristband/ ticket must be presented to gain entry to all classes.

FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTION

B:  Suitable for beginners, those who are not accustom to exercise or who are to to the class.

G:  Suitable for everyone, beginner to advanced. Multi-level teaching which caters for all levels of fitness.

A:  Suitable for the advanced exerciser, people who have been exercising regularly for at lease six months and have participated in the beginner or general version of the class.

BEGIN TO SPIN (B)
This spinning class is designed for those who are new to spinning or whom have just started exercising. Expect to learn correct cycling technique and bike set up to ease you into this high energy cardiovascular workout.

INTERVAL SPINNING (G)
A spin class for all based on varied intensities. From speed work to slow climbs working at different resistance levels throughout, you are guaranteed a heart raising, fat burning workout.

SUNRISE SPIN (G)
For the early birds! A brisk interval driven spin class to wake you up and kickstart your metabolism for the day.

SPIN PEAKS (A)
A challenging high resistance climbing class, with varied speeds to simulate cross country cycling, covering hills, high peaks and flat roads. A high intensity lunchtime challenge.

ENDURANCE SPIN (G)
Simulating an all terrain long distance cycle with gradual climbs and lots of off- saddle work. The focus is on maintaining pace through increased resistance. Excellent for cardio.

LAST CHANCE SPIN (G)
For optimal fat burning so you can have a guilt free weekend!

CARDIO KICKBOX (G)
An exciting high energy aerobic workout. Mixes kung-fu martial arts with aerobic moves for stamina and cardiovascular endurance. If you are looking for a lean strong physique and enjoy kicking and punching then this is the class for you!

BOOT CAMP CIRCUITS (G)
If you want to burn fat, get fit and gain strength, whatever your fitness level, boot camp circuits will sort you out. A high intensity mixed circuit of low complexity moves – this is your opportunity to push yourself as far as you want to go.

POWER CORE BALL/BODYBALL BOOTCAMP (G)
Using stability/swiss balls, experience deep core conditioning- this class will help you identify and strengthen muscles you didn’t know you had. A flowing choreographed class for those who want to improve their posture and strengthen and tighten their torsos.

STEP 'N TONE (G)
A chance to learn the coordination, choreography and aerobic stamina needed for step aerobics- this class introduces you to the basic steps and how to train safely and effectively. Excellent for beginners.

STEP IT OUT (G)
There’s a reason step aerobics has been around for so long- because it works! A fun high energy choreographed class to burn fat and increase cardiovascular stamina- will tone lower body especially and aid your agility and coordination.

HIT: HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (A)
A high intensity challenging conditioning class that will guarantee results!
This class combines upper and lower body strength work combined with aerobic and anaerobic exercises to guarantee a comprehensive workout. Suitable for those of a medium to advanced fitness level.

TOTAL TONE (G)
Same as the above incorporating more modifications of each exercise.

AQUA ANTICS / AQUA ATTACK (G)
Aerobics in the water - this fun but challenging class is designed to give you an all-over effective workout using the water to add resistance to your body movements. Suitable for exercise enthusiasts, non-swimmers or for anyone with joint problems or injuries. Excellent toning results with the added bonus of being cool and comfortable in the pool while you take your class.

LEGS, BUMS & TUMS/POWER CORE CLASS
With this low impact class you will experience a deep muscle toning specifically targeting the lower body.
