Climbing Wall

The Mardyke Arena UCC Climbing Wall offers an exciting challenge for complete beginners through to serious climbers. Our qualified instructors will guide you in using all equipment, plus give coaching tips on how to improve your climbing – whether it is your first time or have been climbing for years.
Taster Session

Are you new to climbing and want to give it a go?
Join us for a one-hour taster session led by an experienced instructor, where you’ll get hands-on experience climbing. Perfect for beginners!

  • Optional Shoe Hire: €2.00
  • Minimum Age: 5 years
Belay Lesson

If you’re looking to become an independent climber, our belay lesson is the place to start. We’ll teach you how to use the equipment safely so that, after passing a competency test, you can climb without needing to book in advance.

Lead Climbing Lesson

Ready to advance your climbing skills? Our lead climbing lesson will guide you through everything needed to become a confident lead climber. Once you’ve passed the competency test, you can lead-climb independently.

Private Coaching Session

For climbers who want to enhance their skills in specific areas, we offer personalised coaching sessions. You’ll receive a mix of roped climbing and bouldering instruction with an experienced instructor.

  • Max Participants: 2 people
Bouldering

Our bouldering wall features around 30 ‘problems’ with difficulty levels from Fr5a to Fr7a. To get started, complete a quick induction, which includes watching a safety video and filling out an online form.

Please be aware that we do not offer a discounted rate for Mardyke Arena Members/UCC staff, our climbing wall is a premium service and prices are reflective of this.
