The Mardyke Arena UCC were awarded the Best Gym in Munster and Overall in Ireland at the Health & Fitness Industry Awards last Friday.
The Awards, sponsored by Nutramino, were held in The Round Room at The Mansion House in Dublin with former Ireland & Munster Star, Alan Quinlan, being master of ceremonies for the event.
The Nutramino Health & Fitness Awards recognise outstanding contributions and innovation from Ireland’s top health & fitness professionals, facilities and community engagement initiatives. With an aim to acknowledge and appreciate the exceptional accomplishments in the industry, the Health & Fitness Awards promote the achievements from across the country and aims to inspire healthy Irish communities and future health & fitness industry professionals.
This prestigious award brings together the country’s leading personalities and organisations in health including educators and motivators, fitness facilities and gyms, industry personalities and business leaders who continuously up the ante, helping the community achieve better lifestyles and support the industry to take their business to the next level.
The Mardyke Arena UCC overcame stiff competition to take home both the provincial and national title, which was voted by the public.

This award is a testament to our facilities and everyone involved.”
The Arena who are no strangers to awards and are the first University Sports facility in the World to hold four international standards – ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 & OHSAS 18001.
These awards come on the back of what have been a whirlwind few weeks for UCC Sport, completing the first Sigerson-Fitzgibbon cup double in 31 years this year, beating UL in the Collingwood Cup to clinch their 14th win in the competition, extending its partnership with Cork City FC and launching an ambitious Sports Strategy for 2019 – 2022, with plans to developing a new UCC Sports Park in Curraheen.
