About the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service

The Cardiac Rehabilitation programme is a supervised exercise programme delivered by a qualified Cardiac Rehabilitation professional – Andrew Burns BSc MSc.

Cardiac Rehabilitation is suitable for people who have suffered a cardiac event including Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction) bypass surgery, heart-valve surgery or stent insertion.

The purpose of cardiac rehabilitation is to do the following:

  • Improve physical fitness levels
  • Help restore confidence after a cardiac event
  • Help prevent a further cardiac event
  • Help people adopt healthy lifestyle changes
  • Encourage return to work or normal activities of daily living
  • Enhance quality of life

The programme structure continuously runs twice a week for six weeks and is delivered in line with the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) guidelines.

Classes run at scheduled times, both in the morning and evening depending on availability.

Class Times:

  • Tuesday: 10:00 – 11:00
  • Tuesday: 18:00 – 19:00
  • Thursday: 10:00 – 11:00
  • Friday: 16:30 – 17:30

Please note to participate in this course you will need a completed referral form from your Doctor. Once we receive this referral form, we will confirm a start date based on which time slots you would like to attend – Please contact the arena clinic for documentation and class information.

Costs:

  • €175 – 6 Week Programme
